We finally settled on a name

Audrey Marie Goebel is the new addition to our little Kentucky family.

Baby Goebel has arrived!

At 3:30pm on June 8, 2010, Beth delivered a little girl by c-section.
She was 6 lbs, 2 oz, and 19 3/4" long.
We still haven't settled on a name, but that should happen soon.

39 Weeks

Greetings from the hospital.
To fill you in, here's how the last 2 weeks have gone...

At 37 weeks, the baby looked a bit large on the ultrasound.  We had to wait 14 days to redo the ultrasound, which brings us to today.
At 39 weeks, the baby still looks big, and it seems that there is not enough amniotic fluid.  So, we were admitted to the hospital around 3pm.  Beth's scheduled to be induced early tomorrow morning.  Unless something changes, that's the plan.
So far, the baby's heartbeat and movements are very good and strong.  Good news for us.  If all goes as planned, we'll finally find out if the baby is a boy or girl sometime tomorrow.  We'll update more tomorrow.

37 Weeks (and 3 days)

Again, it's been awhile since we've written.  Sorry about that.

We've had a few doctor's appointments since our last post and everything is going great.  As you can see from the pic, Beth's belly is getting much bigger these days.  We're less than 3 weeks away from the due date now and we can't wait.  The warm weather is making everything a little more uncomfortable for Beth, so the sooner the better. 

We pretty much have all the baby stuff ready to go.  The car seat is installed, the stoller is assembled, and there are lots of green and yellow baby things around the house.  Once we find out the gender, I think there will still be room for some pink or blue to be mixed in with all the green and yellow.  It should make for a really neat baby's room.

We have our next appointment on June 7th.  After that, we'll know a little bit better about how things are moving along and when to expect the next phase.  For now, we're content and the doctor thinks Beth is right on track to have the baby around the due date (June 15th).

34 weeks

Yep, that's right.  We actually updated the blog 2 times in 2 weeks!  It may not happen every week, but we're making the effort. 

Anyway, we had another doctor's apppointment this week.  Again everything is going well.  The baby is moving a lot and has a strong heartbeat.  Beth is healthy and doing great too.

We've been trying to get everything ready for the baby at home and otherwise.  We have an appointment with a pediatrician next week, we have our name on the daycare "list" (which is actually only us for now), and we've been working on organizing and decorating the baby's room.  We still have a lot to do, but we're getting a little done each day and hopefully will be ready by the time the baby arrives.

33 Week Pictures

It's pretty obvious that Sherman is jealous of the attention, as he tries to jump in the way of the camera each time we take pictures of Beth.  I really can't believe he timed this jump so well.

33 Weeks

Again it has been a long time since we've updated the blog.  Sorry about that.  Among other things, we've had visitors this last month, which leaves little time for blogging.  (We'd take visits any time)

Beth is doing great.  We had a Dr's appt in April that went well.  They checked the baby's heartbeat and measured Beth's tummy.  Both are right where they need to be.

We have our May appointment next Monday.  I think it's about the same plan, heartbeat and some measurements.  We also need to pick out a pediatrician before our next appointment.  I think we have one in mind, we just have to let them know :)

Beth also had a few baby showers these past 2 weeks.  We're very thankful for all the generous gifts we received.  Beth's working on all the thank you cards now, and I'm working on finding places for all the new stuff.  The baby room is coming along, but still a work in progress.  In the next few weeks we hope to get it much more organized while we continue to fill it with all those items we're told we'll need for the baby. 

Thanks again for the well-wishes and gifts.  We're so greatful to have such generous family and friends.
